Holly

RYT-200

Holly practiced yoga for two decades — often with children either growing in her body or climbing on her body — before deciding that both her personal practice and parenthood itself had prepared her to teach. Holly received her 200-hour teacher training at School Street Yoga with Carla Stangenberg, and she studied Yin Yoga with Josh Summers and took short courses in both Trauma-Sensitive Yoga with David Emerson and Yoga Therapy Research with Dr. Chris Walling.

Soon after her 200 hr training, Holly opened a tiny studio in Pittsfield to bring yoga to rural Mainers, many of whom had never before practiced. Polyvagal theory excites Holly, and she loves to remind folks of yoga’s benefits whether or not you are “good” at it. Perhaps most influential in Holly’s practice has been Penobscot and Passamaquoddy attorney, author, teacher, and activist Sherri Mitchell who cultivates justice for indigenous people and lands while also teaching settlers how to decolonize oppressive structures of body, mind, and culture for a livable future for all.
