NEW! Ashtanga Yoga with Thomas Klepach
Wednesdays, beginning February 4, 9:00 – 10:00 am
Thomas Klepach (CYT-200 ) has been practicing yoga for 30 years. He was trained as an instructor of Ashtanga in the Mysore style in New Zealand from 2008-2010. He is a faculty in the Science, Technology, and Society Department at Colby College and has led Ashtanga classes there since 2012.
He also taught in the anatomy lab for three years in the medical school on campus at University of Notre Dame, where he received his PhD in 2008.
Thomas offers an introduction to Ashtanga practice and philosophy, rooted in his deep understanding of the body. He encourages students to focus first and foremost on the pranayama, or breath practice, which forms the template and foundation for the asana and the higher meditative aspects of Ashtanga. He prioritizes helping practitioners to develop the skills necessary for self-practice, and values the power of non-verbal time during practice as a way to quiet the mind and connect more deeply with the body.
Led by Thomas Klepach; $14/drop-ins; free with I 💚 yoga.
Please pre-register, online or at the studio.
